The annual meeting of SAC/TC 442, Industrial water conservation, was held online on January 5, which was attended by relevant leaders from the Resource Conservation and Environment Protection Department of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Energy Saving and Comprehensive Utilization Department under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), and National Office of Water Conservation affiliated to the Ministry of Water Resources. Over 40 members and experts from colleges and universities, scientific institutions, industrial associations, and major enterprises participated in the meeting as well.
Ding Zhijun, Deputy Director-General of Energy Saving and Comprehensive Utilization Department, MIIT, underlined the importance to carry out water-saving standardization work in all industrial sectors. Efforts will be put into bolstering the construction of the standards systems for industrial water saving, such as industrial pollutant reduction and decarbonization, recycling of industrial wastewater, intensive water utilization in enterprises and industrial parks, dovetailing sectoral standards with national standards, deepening fundamental research of standardization, introducing China's standards on industrial water utilization to global partners, and promote the reuse of industrial water.
Wang Chunyan, Director from the Resource Conservation and Environment Protection Department of NDRC, affirmed the achievements of the committee's work, and put forward requirements on the optimization of standards system, changing the term of the office of SAC/TC 442, strengthening the work of subcommittees, and regulating routine management. She expected that the committee will play a role as a bridge for promoting ecological civilization, and further contribute tto China's high-quality development.
The secretariat of SAC/TC 442 reported the work in 2023 to the committee members, and put forward the next year's plan on key work items. The committee members discussed the work plan in 2024 and proposed opinions and suggestions. Two national standards were reviewed during the meeting as well.
