Online meeting held to promote Beijing's water saving standards & specifications

A meeting was held online on May 12 by the Beijing Municipal Water Conservation Office to carry out the "Beijing's Promotion Project of 100 Water Saving Standards & Specifications".

The meeting was attended by representatives responsible for drafting relevant standards, and authorities from the Beijing Administration for Market Regulation, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Beijing Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau and the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports. The expert from CNIS, a technical supporter of the project, delivered a report on the 2022 work plan and its overall progress.

Authorities from the Beijing Administration for Market Regulation clarified the overall timetable and key requirements of relevant standards. Experts from the Resource and Environment Sub-Institute of CNIS, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, Capital University of Economics and Business, etc., interpreted standards for quota, the format and financial requirements of standards development, and DB 11/T 936.1-2020, Specification for water saving assessment - Part 1: General principles.

According to this year's plan, 26 water conservation standards and specifications will be developed or revised, among which 14 ones for quota standards, 4 for assessment and 8 for fundamental technology.

As the capital of China, Beijing performs a leading role in building the national governance system and facilitating the modernization of governance. In response to President Xi Jinping's policy of "prioritizing water saving", it is important to establish Beijing's standards system of water conservation and implement the water saving campaign, which will boost the green and high-quality development of Beijing.

The Beijing Water Authority has been popularizing published water-saving standards, combining online and on-site methods. Some standards and materials of online classes have been uploaded on the Internet.
