ISO/TC 69, Applications of statistical methods, held the 45th plenary meeting in Milwaukee of the U.S. on June 25-30, which welcomed nearly 70 representatives from countries such as China, the U.S., the U.K., Germany, Japan, India, France and Kenya, as well as related liaison organizations. Other meetings for the chair's advisory group, five subcommittees and related working groups were also held.
As the domestic mirror committee of ISO/TC 69 and the secretariat of ISO/TC 69/SC 7, Applications of statistical and related techniques for the implementation of Six Sigma, CNIS organized experts from Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Technology and other departments to attend the meetings in virtual form. Ding Wenxing, Head of the Sub-institute of Fundamental Standardization of CNIS and Chair of SC 7, Zhang Fan, Secretary of SC 7, and Zhao Jing, Joint Manager of an ISO project, attended the event in person.
The Chinese experts mainly discussed the work of SC 7, SC 5 on acceptance sampling and WG 3 on statistical interpretation of data, and probed into issues including standards for implementation of Six Sigma, design for Six Sigma, experimental design, terminologies application of Bayesian methods in sampling inspection, etc.
During the meeting, SC 7 confirmed the content of preliminary cooperation with ISO/TC 176, Quality management and quality assurance. Based on previous communication, the two parties decided to further discuss their cooperation in detail in October and establish a joint working group to draft a guiding document for the applications of statistical methods in standards for quality management system with the leading efforts of SC 7.
CNIS will actively coordinate domestic technical experts to participate in international standards development, and strengthen the influence of international standardization on applications of statistical methods.
