The 51st World Standards Day was celebrated on October 14 in Taiyuan, Shanxi province. On the same day, CNIS Transformational Development Research Center was inaugurated, with its nameplate unveiled by Tian Shihong, SAMR Vice-Minister and SAC Administrator and Wu Wei, Vice Governor of Shanxi.
The grand event was witnessed by Liu Hongsheng, CNIS President, Xiang Dihai, Deputy Secretary-General of Shanxi Provincial Government, Zhang Jiuping, Director-General of Shanxi Administration for Market Regulation, and Li Jinping, Director of Management Committee of Shanxi Transformational Reform Demonstration Area. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Cui Gang, Director-General of Standards Innovative Management Department of SAMR, Chen Hongjun, Deputy Director-General of Standards Technical Management Department of SAMR, and Li Aixian, CNIS Vice-President.
The Center set up in Shanxi will help advance the establishment of reform pilot area in Shanxi for supporting national transition towards resource-based economy, empower the Central Region and promote regional economic transformation and high-quality development.
On the other hand, the move is an essential step for CNIS to look to the future, remain open and cooperative, and keep competitive edge. CNIS thus can continue to take the lead in supporting standardization research, precisely perceive the actual needs, effectively address challenges and promote the transformation, application and integration of scientific achievements in key sectors in regional areas.
