Green production and consumption for a beautiful China

Themed on “Standards leading better life, green enhancing beautiful China”, the 5th Green Production and Consumption Exchange Conference took place in Jinan of Shandong Province on November 6-8, 2019.

The event was jointly hosted by CNIS, Shandong Industrial Technology Research Institute, China Energy Conservation Association, China Society of Technology Economics, China Association of Circular Economy, and European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC). It brought together more than 600 representatives from the government, industry, universities, research institutes and related associations to exchange and share green development policies, technologies, standards, experience and cases.

In the opening address, Xiao Han, Deputy Director-General of SAMR Standards Innovative Management Department, highlighted standardization as a valuable tool for ecological civilization and strategic deployment of high-quality development so as to supply more good eco-products and meet people’s increasing demands for better life.

CNIS Vice-President Qiu Yueming introduced abundant research and practical work conducted by the research institute in the fields of green development for ecological civilization and high-quality development, such as preliminary construction of green product standards system.

At the opening ceremony, wonderful speeches were delivered by ISO former President Zhang Xiaogang, JRC senior researcher fellow Paolo Bertoldi, and International Energy Agency (IEA) researcher fellow Kevin Lane, respectively on trends of international standardization and high quality development, current situation of household electric appliance and lighting efficiency at the global level, and clean energy transformation and green industry.

In addition, six parallel sessions were convened, focusing on such crucial topics as enterprise standards forerunner, green and high efficient cooling technology and policy, response to climate change and green development, innovative development of comprehensive energy service, water use efficiency standards and labeling, and hydrogen energy industrial development.
