SCC CEO John Walter began term as ISO President on Jan. 1, 2018

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is pleased to announce that Chief Executive Officer (CEO) John Walter began his two-year term as President of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) on January 1, 2018.

In an introductory message published on the ISO website,  Mr. Walter outlined some of the priorities on which he will concentrate during his term as president. These include helping ISO achieve the objective of "ISO standards used everywhere," increasing oversight and accountability of Council and of the General Assembly, and creating a Regional Strategy that will be implemented to the benefit of ISO's entire membership.

Mr. Walter was elected as the next ISO President at the 39th ISO General Assembly meeting held in Beijing, China, in 2017. He has been the SCC CEO since 2009 and served as ISO Vice-President (Policy) from 2014 to 2016 prior to becoming President-elect of ISO in 2017.
