The launch meeting and the implementation plan demonstration meeting of "Key Technologies of Urban Sustainable Development Evaluation and Decision Support" project was held on February 11 in Beijing.

The project belongs to the national key research and development plan during the 14th Five-Year plan period (2021-2025), which is led by China Architecture Design & Research Group (CADG). And the Public Security Sub-institute of CNIS undertakes one research subject of the project, "Evaluation Methods and Technical Standards of Urban Sustainable Development".

Hosted by CADG, the meeting was addressed by leaders from the Administrative Center for China's Agenda 21 and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, attended by some 80 attendees from CNIS, Nankai University, Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Geomatics Center of China, etc.

At the meeting, researchers in charge of the project and each research subject reported on their work plan respectively. On behalf of the Public Security Sub-institute of CNIS, Dr. Yang Feng reported on the research subject on the evaluation methods and technical standards of urban sustainable development.

Then participating experts addressed inquiries about the technology roadmap and implementation plan of each subject, gave full affirmation, praised the project teams' cooperation and efforts, and offered suggestions to optimize the work content, anticipated achievement and coordination mechanism. Finally, the project implementation plans were unanimously approved.

The project is designed to establish an intelligent and standardized urban evaluation system, by integrating available multi-source monitoring data and interactive simulation technology to set up an integrated platform for urban sustainable development, which combines monitoring, evaluation and decision-making. The platform will be verified simultaneously in the national sustainable development experimental demonstration system.

Referring to real-life urban development, the project will find out the law of urban development and establish a scientific evaluation method, which is expected to timely offer technical support for urban assessment and upgrading.
