Exchange meeting on green and low-carbon standardization held

The Green and Low-carbon Standardization Exchange Meeting was held virtually by CNIS jointly with China Association for Standardization (CAS) and Chinese Society of Technology Economics (CSTE) on July 15. Themed "Standards support carbon peak & neutrality, Sustainability brings a green future", the meeting invited representatives from relevant departments, institutes, societies and industries to make in-depth exchanges.

CNIS has put low-carbon standardization work into a prior position and carried out lots of relevant work, according to Li Zhiping, Vice-President of CNIS. With joint efforts of CNIS and other stakeholders, standards will further promote technical progress in the low-carbon field, assist the transformation and upgrading of industries, and support the green development of economy and society.

Jiang Yi, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and experts from CNIS, SAC/TC 402, SAC/TC 548, ISO/TC 207/TG 1, the Seconded European Standardization Expert in China (SESEC) project, and other relevant organizations, made speeches on topics of the international and domestic low-carbon policies & standardization development, carbon accounting, carbon market, comprehensive energy, greenhouse gas management, sustainable finance, green package, low-carbon biomaterial, etc.

Focusing on achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality, attendees shared their views on relevant policies, standards, technologies, methods and cases, which play a fundamental role in promoting the construction of the low-carbon standards system. More low-carbon standards are expected to be developed to boost the green high-quality development of economy and society.

Also a series of activities were held during the meeting. CAS established the Low-carbon Special Committee. The initiative of "Striving for a green future with advanced standards" was launched, and a series of low-carbon association standards, and the carbon footprint platform of household appliance industry were released at the event.
