CNIS signed the Standardization Cooperation Framework Agreement in the Field of Carbon Peak & Carbon Neutrality with Qingdao Administration for Market Rgulation on June 7, the World Accreditation Day, which was jointly established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). Zhao Shengcun, Vice-Mayor of Qingdao, made a speech on the event. Officials from the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and Li Zhiping, Vice-President of CNIS, addressed the signing ceremony via videos.
According to Li Zhiping, the standardization cooperation framework agreement echoes Chinese President Xi Jinping's guidance on striving to achieve the goals of peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality. Signing the agreement is a vital approach to implement the State Council's important decisions and deployments to achieve carbon peak & neutrality, and also the action to implement the Outline for National Standardization Development. It represents that Qingdao is confident and determined to reach the carbon peak and neutrality goals, which also highlights the essential role of standardization in the process.
As the necessary support and supplement to national climate policies, standards have become a recognized technical method to slow down and adapt to climate change, which coordinates worldwide actions against the global challenge.
CNIS and Qingdao will collaborate in building Qingdao's standardization innovation research center for carbon peak & neutrality, carrying out standardization research projects in relevant aspects, developing standards, setting up demonstration projects, cultivating talents, promoting the standard "forerunner" system, etc. The Resource and Environment Sub-institute of CNIS will further fuel Qingdao on the path to a green, low-carbon and sustainable future.
