National Library of Standards contributes to construction of digital information resources

The Academic Symposium on the Construction of Digital Information Resources in 2021, which is also the 7th Seminar on the Construction of Scientific and Technological Literature Resources was held on October 17-19 in Zunyi, Guizhou province.

Co-hosted by the National Science and Technology Library (NSTL) and the China Academic Library & Information System (CALIS), the event was convened to integrate national scientific literature resources and discuss how to address the challenges brought by the complex international situation, the competition with publishers and the necessity of transformation.

Some 900 participants from academia, libraries, research institutes participated in the meeting on site or via live stream. The National Library of Standards (NLS) also sent representative to attended the event, and NLS serves as the sole national standard literature collection, research and service institution in China.

Attendees discussed the methods on the collection and service of scientific literature resources in the digital era, in order to realize transformation during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). Also, NLS researchers introduced their digital resource construction works during the transformation.

An essay submitted by NLS, focusing on ontology technology and its application in standard literature, won the third prize of the essay competition organized by the event.
