Two association standards on reproductive health came into effect
Date: 2021-07-19    Source:CNIS

China Reproductive Health Industry Association (CRHIA) and CNIS collaboratively developed two association standards on reproductive health. T/CRH 0001-2020, Classification of reproductive health product and T/CRH 0002-2020, Terminology of reproductive health product, came into effect on June 1 to provide a solid basis for robust development of the industry.

According to the investigation of World Health Organization, reproductive health problems perplex over 50% adult males and over 90% adult females. China has a population of over 1.4 billion people, including 0.71 billion males and 0.68 billion females. Over 70% of China's population are adults, and more than 93% of them accept the use of reproductive health products.

Global reproductive health market reached a value of nearly trillion dollars a year. China is the largest producer of reproductive health products, owns 80% of global production capacity. However, there is no technical standard for such products in China, so the product quality cannot be guaranteed.

The two new standards provide the technical basis for the market positioning and normative development of the industry. T/CRH 0001-2020 classifies the products based on their features, purposes and main functions. T/CRH 0002-2020 takes into account the common appellation for such products in China and the connection with relevant terms in international community.
