ISO 37301:2021, Compliance management systems - Requirements with guidance for use, was officially published on April 13, which is the first international standard developed by ISO/TC 309 (governance of organizations) since its inception in 2016.
This document specifies requirements and provides guidelines for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an effective compliance management system within an organization. It is applicable to all types of organizations regardless of the type, size and nature of the activity.
Having been revised on the basis of ISO 19600:2014, ISO 37301:2021 is applicable to all types of organizations self-declaring conformance and external suppliers or other relevant parties (second parties) reviewing and conducting the certification of management systems. It can help all types of organizations that establish and maintain compliance culture and improve compliance competitiveness and sustainability, facilitate trade, communication and cooperation around the globe, and provide reference for regulators and judicial organs in accepting compliance improvement plans and compliance management systems of organizations.
The standard was developed by the working group on compliance management systems (ISO/TC 309/WG4). Its convenor is Martin Tolar from Australia, co-convenor is undertaken by Wang Yiyi, head of Sub-Institute of Standardization Theory and Strategy, and Wang Gengjie, assistant research fellow serves as secretary.
CNIS, as one of the responsible institute for consultation and cooperation with ISO/TC 309, organized many domestic experts to participate in the development of ISO 37301.
