The Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM)'s Energy Management Working Group (EMWG) aims to promote the adoption of ISO 50001-certified energy management systems among governments, industries and all types of organizations so as to achieve climate and energy goals.
EMWG honors ISO 50001 energy management leaders every year through the CEM Energy Management Leadership Awards. To become nominees, organizations must make a structured case study showing how their energy management system delivers diverse benefits to their company, community, and country.
In July, EMWG unveiled winners in 2020. According to the reports of all 46 nominees representing 368 institutes in 14 countries, their annual energy cost savings reached up to USD 37 million and reduced over 452,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide.
CNIS has been commissioned by Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection, National Development and Reform Commission to lead the Chinese working group for event and supported Chinese organizations to compete for the Awards for consecutively three years. This year, 12 of the 19 case studies CNIS collected in the sectors of chemical engineering, cement, electricity, automobile manufacturing and aviation were shortlisted for the Awards.
CNIS will continue its commitment to encourage more Chinese organizations to submit entries of excellence and enhance national and international exchanges in energy management experience. These actions will help improve the awareness and capacity of energy management among related organizations, and support enterprises to build and take good advantage of energy management systems.
