The annual meeting of ISO/TC 69/SC 7 on applications of statistical and related techniques for the implementation of Six Sigma was held virtually on June 18 as planned, attracting representatives from China, the US, the UK, Germany, Japan and India. The secretariat of the sub-committee is SAC supported by Fundamental Standardization Sub-Institute of China National Institute of Standardization (CNIS).
Dr. Ding Wenxing, as Chair of the subcommittee, presided over the event. Apart from progress reports of four working groups, attendees heard the secretariat work report delivered by Committee Manager Dr. Zhang Fan, and had discussions on the development of ISO 13053-1, Quantitative methods in process improvement - Six Sigma - Part 1: DMAIC methodology, ISO 13053-2, Quantitative methods in process improvement - Six Sigma - Part 2: Tools and techniques, and two standards respectively on the design and terms of Six Sigma.
Despite of the global impact of COVID-19, SC 7 has accomplished the tasks as planned. For instance, ISO/TR 22914, Statistical methods for implementation of Six Sigma - Selected illustration for ANOVA, developed under the leadership of Dr. Zhao Jing, has been submitted to the Central Secretariat of ISO for publication, and ISO 13053-1 has passed the committee draft (CD) voting.
