CNIS delegation attends the 13th China-Japan Forum on Energy Conservation and Environment Protection

The 13th China-Japan Forum on Energy Conservation and Environment Protection took place in Tokyo, Japan on December 8, 2019, welcoming some 800 Chinese and Japanese participants to discuss six themes including energy saving, circular economy, electric and smart automobile, hydrogen energy, clean coal technology & thermal power, and long-term trade between the two countries. 
Zhang Yong, deputy head of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Kajiyama Hiroshi, Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry addressed the event. Twenty-six cooperation projects were signed between China and Japan at the Forum, covering the areas of energy conservation, circular economy, pollution prevention and control, hydrogen energy and green technology innovation.
China has always attached great importance to energy conservation and environment protection, which are included in fundamental state policies. China is committed to developing economy and society while making ecological progress, said Zhang Yong at the opening address. China welcomes Japanese companies and institutions to join in the effort of saving energy and protecting environment, boosting green, sustainable development together, stressed Zhang.
The two sides shall enhance communication and coordination on relevant policies, and strengthen pragmatic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, thus expanding international market, added Zhang.
Experts from the Branch of Resources and Environment Research, CNIS participated in the event and two sub-forms focusing on "Circular Economy" and "Promoting Energy Conservation". Research Fellow Chen Haihong gave a presentation on "Energy efficiency and labeling of Chinese refrigeration air conditioners" at the latter sub-form.
In the presentation, Chen introduced the overall situation of Chinese national standards for energy conservation, mandatory energy efficiency standards & labeling and the implementation framework, as well as the effect and regulatory requirements of energy efficiency standards & labeling for refrigeration air conditioner. Chen also expounded on the amendment of energy efficiency standards & labeling of key products, and the main content of China's Green and High-efficient Refrigeration Action Plan.
The Forum is jointly organized by NDRC, China's Ministry of Commerce, the Japanese Embassy in China, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Japan-China Economy Association. Since its inception in 2006, the event has been successfully held for 13 years, providing a key opportunity for the cooperation on energy saving and environment protection between China and Japan in industry, academia and government. Up to now, approximately 400 cooperation projects have been signed at the event.
