CNIS holds video conference with ANSI

CNIS held a virtual meeting with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) on August 25. CNIS President Liu Hongsheng and ANSI Vice-President Joseph Tretler delivered opening address.

Liu reviewed the previous cooperation of the two sides in energy management, electrostatic protection, association standards and others. The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding in June, a landmark of an official cooperation mechanism established between them.

Mr. Tretler agreed that the MOU will help enhance exchanges between the two sides in international standardization cooperation and specific technical areas. They can contribute more to facilitating global trade and fighting against the coronavirus.

CNIS Vice-President Li Zhiping introduced the latest progress in building China's standards system, major achievements of CNIS during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020) and its priorities during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2015).

Leslie McDermott, Director of International Development at ANSI introduced the US standardization strategy and the institute's standardization work in COVID-19 epidemic control, intelligent manufacturing and 5G.
