New national standards on consumer products released

A bunch of 20 national standards including GB 38995-2020 on infant feeding bottles and teats were released at a press briefing on October 21 in Yiwu, Zhejiang province, which was moderated by Sun Hua from Standards Technical Management Department of SAMR. Liu Xia, research fellow from Branch of Quality Research of CNIS interpreted 10 national standards on consumer products.

Three standards on consumer product traceability including GB/T 39099-2020 are aimed at using standards means to accelerate the application of modern information technology in establishing consumer product traceability system. They can enable the traceability information sharing among regulators, enterprises and consumers.

In GB/T 39108-2020 on safety hazard identification and GB/T 39112-2020 on life cycle safety risk control of consumer products, the methods of scenario simulation and risk assessment are adopted to identify, prevent and control safety risks of consumer products from the perspective of the whole life cycle. The two standards are expected to facilitate whole-chain risk control of consumer products.

GB/T 39102-2020, Guidelines for design and manufacture quality control of customized consumer products, will be important to standardize and scale up the customized manufacturing.

GB/T 39107-2020 and other three standards provide four fast, environment-friendly and efficient test methods for the determination of toxic and hazardous substances, supporting the development of control measures for those substances in China.
