The Biotechnology Laboratory, under the Institute of Agricultural and Food Standardization, is a standardized experimental research platform integrating scientific research, application, and services. The Laboratory includes four functional areas: operation room, analytical instrument room, microbiology room, and cell room. It is equipped with over 30 instruments, such as automated microbial identification systems, automated nucleic acid/protein analyzers, fluorescence microplate readers, quantitative PCR instruments, NanoDrop spectrophotometers, inverted microscopes, high-performance liquid chromatography systems, and gas chromatography systems. The Laboratory has assembled a multidisciplinary high-quality research team to conduct experimental research and standard validation in the field of biotechnology standardization.
Using modern biotechnology tools, the Laboratory conducts basic and applied research in areas such as health foods, traditional Chinese medicines, biological products, and biotechnology-related products. It also validates and develops relevant national standards. By establishing in vivo and in vitro evaluation models, the Laboratory researches the identification of bioactive components and product efficacy evaluation technologies. It develops corresponding identification and evaluation technical methods and standards, integrating standardized models and testing methods throughout the entire industry chain. This ensures comparability of testing data across organizations, accuracy in data analysis and judgment, and measurable efficacy and controllable quality of products.
