Ms. Fathimath Zaina Shareef, Programme Officer of the Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment of the Maldives, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the Maldivian side for the warm reception and thoughtful arrangements of CNIS. During the meeting, Xu Qing systematically elaborated on the regulatory objects, priorities and models of the energy efficiency label system in China, and comprehensively presented the regulatory framework and practical outcomes of the system. Mr. Mohamed Inaz, Energy Efficiency Advisor of the Maldivian delegation, introduced the Hakathari Program, the national energy efficiency label initiative of the Maldives, together with its implementation in products such as air conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines. Relevant experts from the Division of Resources and Environment Standardization of CNIS detailed the methods for energy efficiency standards development, progress in the implementation of labels, and the online filing system in China.

The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the regulatory mechanism for energy efficiency labels, verification of test reports, data sharing on energy and water efficiency, and access to foreign-language versions of Chinas energy efficiency standards.

Both sides acknowledged that energy efficiency standards and labels serve as a critical instrument to boost energy utilization efficiency. They agreed to deepen practical China-Maldives cooperation, set up an information sharing mechanism, advance the mutual recognition of energy efficiency testing results and label information for key products, and facilitate green and low-carbon development in both countries.

This discussion marks a good start for deeper bilateral cooperation on energy efficiency standards and labels and lays a foundation for regular communication and collaboration. Moving forward, the two sides will further strengthen communication and partnership, share standardization achievements, and contribute to global energy conservation and the delivery of sustainable development goals.
